It’s official: ban on import of wheat by road will be extended for six months

The Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Trade Policy has decided to extend the ban on import of wheat by road to Kazakhstan for six months, reports World of NAN with reference to the Ministry of Trade.

To recall, the ban on the import of wheat by road to the territory of Kazakhstan, including from the EAEU member states, expires on October 10, 2023.

The decision was made in order to exclude "shady schemes" of wheat import to Kazakhstan and its re-export by road from the border regions of the Russian Federation. However, in order to provide domestic agricultural producers with seed material, the supply of seeds by road is allowed. In this case, the consignments must be accompanied by a certificate of seed quality.

In addition, the import of imported wheat into the territory of Kazakhstan by railroad transport is also limited. The exception will be deliveries to licensed elevators, grain processors, poultry enterprises. The order to extend the ban by road and introduce restrictions by rail will be developed by the Ministry of Agriculture.
