The government has instructed to withdraw lawsuits on seizure of agricultural land

The government has raised the issue of land grabbing. The fact is that some of the lease agreements have been invalidated because they were issued out of tenders, World of NAN reports with reference to the NCE.

It is important to note that today, decisions taken many years ago between 2009 and 2023 are being reviewed and cancelled. However, the norm for compulsory tender for land release was introduced in 2018. And non-competitive transfer of plots for investment projects was provided for in the Land Code since 2009, but the rules were approved only in 2022.

Thus, the lack of approved criteria and clear conditions led to different law enforcement practices on the ground. Today, control and supervisory authorities recognize the decisions of akimats as illegal and take land away from farmers. But there are farmers who really invested in land and engaged in agriculture. And honest business now suffers because of old laws and the error of local state bodies. This approach is very unfair to honest businessmen.

Therefore, Deputy Prime Minister Nurlan Baibazarov approved the proposal of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs to create a working group to consider this issue with the participation of the Supreme Court, the General Prosecutor's Office and other interested government agencies.

The Ministry of Agriculture was instructed to recommend to all its territorial subdivisions to withdraw lawsuits on such cases and suspend the practice of bringing them until the working group develops specific proposals to address the issue.
