The first crop of sugar beet exported abroad

Agrarians of the A. Kalybekov rural district of Maktaaral district exported the first crop of early-ripening sugar beet to Russia, World of NAN reports with reference to the press service of the Turkestan regional Akim.

Farmers specially imported high varieties of sugar beet from Holland, Pavlo, Vadan, and planted 25 hectares of land in January.

Bektemir Alikulov, a resident of Zhanazhol village, was the first to receive 1.5 tons of produce on his 15 hectare homestead. The farmer can get up to 300 quintals per hectare. They sell their products for 180 tenge. The agrarian says that the above varieties acquire a specific taste only when grown on the soils of Zhanazhol village, so there is a high demand for beet here.

"The land for sowing beets must be very fertile. For this purpose, the land is fertilized with saltpeter, ammophos, and manure. Since most of the agro-technical activities are done by hand, it takes painstaking work to sow the beets. Great labor leads to great success," says B. Alikulov.

Farmers of the district send their products to Russia, Nur-Sultan, Almaty, and Karaganda. After the first harvest of sugar beet, the farmers plan to sow the crop for the second harvest.
