Letter to the President: Seed farm employees are desperate 

The staff of the seed farm "Agropark Ontustik" addressed a letter to the President. The employees are not satisfied with the idea of joining the farm to the Kazakh National Agrarian and Research University, reports World of NAN.

The issue of the accession was raised at the end of last year. The staff of the farm considers it unacceptable, because the university plans to give a huge crop area for experimental fields. But the farm deals with seeds and provides seed material to farmers from Almaty, Zhetysu, Zhambyl and Turkestan regions. In addition, the farm supplies the local flour mill with raw materials. There is a fear that farmers will be left without seeds.

"The plan of "KazNARU" noted the creation of a "multidisciplinary experimental training and production center" on the basis of our farm, which implied the allocation of huge sowing areas of the seed farm under the experimental site for scientific experiments," - pointed out in a letter to the President the employees of "Agropark Ontustik".

According to the farm staff, they have repeatedly protested to the Ministry of Agriculture. But their pleas and arguments were not heard or ignored by our officials. For some reason, the "bright minds" decided to develop science at the expense of the country's food security. Quite a strange decision, given that NASEC has grandiose plans to develop seed production in Kazakhstan. And the dependence on imported seeds continues to grow.

"In different years by decision of NASEC the farm was transferred to temporary trust management of "KazNII of agriculture and plant production". And, as a rule, it did not end well. The trustee changed the structure of crops, farm specialization, etc. at its discretion. After that we had to work with the consequences of these interventions, because only we know the shape, nature and condition of our lands," farm employees said in their letter.

It turns out that the farm already has experience in the transfer of land into the hands of scientists, and in their words, everything ended sadly. Also in the case of accession to the university, the staff is afraid of losing their jobs, the farm employs about 100 people. People are already desperate and have stopped believing in the Ministry of Agriculture and the NASEC leadership, so they appealed to the president of the country.
