The head of the government, Olzhas Bektenov, held a meeting on preparations for the harvesting campaign, World of NAN reports with reference to the Cabinet of Ministers.
Mass harvesting works in Kazakhstan will begin in the third decade of August. To date, 928.2 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops have been harvested, or 5.5%. With an average yield of 19.3 c/ha threshed 1.8 million tons of grain. Also, 418.2 thousand tons of potatoes and 940.3 thousand tons of vegetables were harvested.
‘Quality harvest and preservation of the crop are of special importance for the country. It is necessary to work out all emerging issues on a daily basis. This concerns not only ministries, but also akimats and farmers themselves. I instruct the Ministry of Agriculture together with regional akimats to keep the progress of harvesting works under special control. It is no less important to ensure proper storage conditions for grain,’ Olzhas Bektenov emphasized.
He instructed to create an operational headquarters for the harvesting campaign, as well as by 10 September to free elevators from the remnants of last year's harvest and prevent unjustified price increases for elevator services.
