Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Agriculture to limit exports if necessary

At a government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov measures to prevent a rise in inflation were considered, the World of NAN reports.

Head of the Government has instructed agencies to take systematic measures to increase food production and saturation of the domestic market as well as to curb rising food prices. Thus, the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition has been instructed to strengthen the work on anti-monopoly response measures and investigation of intermediary schemes.

"We must not allow unscrupulous sellers and intermediaries to profit at the expense of unjustified and high markups," said the head of the Cabinet of Ministers.

He also instructed the Ministry of Finance together with the Ministry of Trade and Integration - to consider the issues of a pilot project on mandatory issuance of electronic invoices from the stage of import or production prior to the retail sale of specific goods, it will allow the monitoring of the mark-up at each level of resale.

To ensure the saturation of the domestic market with food, the Ministry of Agriculture was instructed to calculate the volume of production and consumption of agricultural products and, if necessary, to introduce export restrictions.

According to the Minister of Agriculture, as of today the following restrictions are in effect: quantitative restrictions on the export of sunflower seeds and sunflower oil for a period up to July 1, 2022, a ban on the export of potatoes and carrots for three months, and a ban on the export of live cattle and small cattle for six months. In addition, there is a ban on the export of feed grain.
