President on floods: aid will be provided to agrarians

Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev promised to help all citizens and businesses at the session of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, World of NAN reports with reference to Akorda.

According to him, all flood victims will receive a lump sum payment per family. After assessing the damage, citizens will be paid compensation for damaged or destroyed property. The state will repair damaged housing and build new housing to replace the destroyed ones.

"In addition, the state will support small and medium-sized businesses affected by the disaster, as well as agrarians of flooded regions. In particular, deferrals of interest payments on loans and lease payments will be provided for entrepreneurs and farmers in the affected regions. Agrarians will also be provided with all the necessary assistance for a timely and successful sowing campaign," said the President.

The head of the country also set a task to create an effective system of fighting against natural disasters. Thus, measures to prevent and reduce the consequences of floods, taking into account the best international practices, will be added to the Concept of development of water resources management.

" The entire water management system is to be reorganized, including such companies as Kazvodkhoz and Nura Group Water Supply. The National Hydrogeological Service will also be reconstituted, which will deal with the exploration and protection of underground water resources. On my instructions, the Kazakh Hydromelioration and Construction Institute in Taraz is being reconstituted," Tokayev added.
