Meat production increased in Kazakhstan

Production of fresh or chilled meat of cattle, pigs, sheep, goats and horses in January-December 2023 reached 80.2 thousand tons - 10.1% more than in the same period of 2022, reports World of NAN with reference to Energyprom.kz.

In January this year 7.1 thousand tons of fresh or chilled meat were produced - 39.4% more than in January 2023.

The most popular meat among Kazakhs is beef: its consumption amounted to 18.33 kg on average per capita in January-September 2023 - 3.2% more than in the same period in 2022.

Next comes horse meat: 4.88 kg on average per capita, an increase of 11.7% over the year. Mutton consumption decreased by 4% over the year, amounting to 4.02 kg on average per capita in January-September last year. Pork consumption decreased by 2.5%: 2.46 kg on average per capita.
