A record sunflower harvest is expected in Russia

This year's sunflower harvest in Russia may slightly exceed last year's figure, amounting to 16.38 million tons, reports World of NAN with reference to the analytical center "Rusagrotrans".

This is 200 thousand more than a year earlier. It should be noted that the new record is expected despite the reduction of sown areas. They decreased by 300 thousand hectares - from 10.1 to 9.8 million.

At the same time, the center reduced the estimate for the collection of oilseeds - by 570 thousand or up to 26.3 million tons.

For rapeseed, the prospects of harvesting are estimated at 3.8 million tons. This is 710 thousand tons less than last year's value, although it is within the range of the long-term average. For soybeans, a record is expected - 6.13 million tons instead of the earlier six. The reason for this is the expansion of sown areas for this crop.
