Russia will improve conditions for grain exports through Kazakhstan

For the sake of coal exports, the Kazakh side is ready to lower tariffs for the transit of Russian wheat by rail, reports World of NAN with reference to the government.

Co-chairmen of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation met in Moscow.

The participants discussed the possibility of applying mutual discounts for transportation of export cargoes by rail. The current railway tariff on the Russian Federation for the transportation of coal and iron ore limits the increase in the volume of shipments of Kazakh coal for export.

In this regard, the Kazakh side proposed the Russian side to consider the possibility of applying a reduction factor on the transit tariff of Russian Railways for the transportation of coal and iron ore in the direction of the port of Ventspils. For its part, Kazakhstan is ready to consider the issue of reducing the coefficient on KTZh tariffs for transportation of Russian grain along the eastern branch of the North-South corridor.
