Russia is gradually taking over China's grain market

Russia sold $125 million worth of grain to China in the first quarter of this year, World of NAN reports with reference to RIA Novosti.

Wheat supplies in value terms reached $15.8 million (almost 12-fold year-on-year growth), barley 8.4 times - up to $60.3 million. At the same time, China reduced grain imports from Australia by 80%, while barley imports doubled.

The supplies of Russian oats to China have also increased 2.7 times year-on-year and buckwheat 3.3 times year-on-year. But the import of Russian corn decreased 3.8 times - to $13.6 million. At the same time, the total import of this grain to China decreased by 16%.

Thus, China is among the top 5 importers of Russian grains. The main crops are soybeans, peas, corn, flax seeds, rapeseed, barley and oats.

According to U.S. analysts, China will remain the main buyer of such crops as soybeans, corn, sorghum and barley in the next 10 years. Therefore, Kazakh farmers should think about these crops and marketing before the neighboring country takes over the market completely.
