According to the most optimistic forecasts of the Ministry of Agriculture, the country will harvest 132 million tons of grain, of which 86 million tons of wheat. Last year, neighbors harvested almost 93 million tons of wheat, World of NAN reports.
In the south of the Russian Federation, the grain has already been harvested. As expected, against the backdrop of drought in two federal districts - the South and North Caucasus - the wheat harvest has decreased from 38 million tons last year to 31 million tons this year (mainly due to Rostov and Volgograd).
In the center, a decline is also expected due to a reduction in sown areas against the backdrop of May frosts and a decrease in yield. In the Volga region, there were very good harvest prospects. But the eastern part of the Volga region is now being flooded, which may lead to a decrease in the quality and quantity of grain. But a very good harvest is ripening in the east of the country. However, we need to look at what conditions will develop during the harvest. Despite the decline in grain harvest this year due to weather, Russia will retain its leadership in wheat supplies to the world market.
