Russia has significantly increased exports of fat and oil products

In the neighboring country, exports of oil and fat products in 2023 increased by more than a third compared to the previous period, the World of NAN reports with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

Thus, supplies of sunflower oil to foreign markets increased by 42%, rapeseed oil - by 64%, soybean oil - by 10%. Last year Russia sold 11.2 million tons of oil and fat industry products to other countries. Since the beginning of this year its exports have grown by another 18%.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the highest demand is in China, Turkey, Uzbekistan, the Middle East and Africa.

Recall that Kazakhstan introduced an export duty on sunflower in order to support domestic processing. Now a logical question arises - can domestic processors cope with the growing competition from Russia? Does it make sense for Kazakhstan to limit the export of raw materials and continue to support processing?
