The head of "Olzha Agro" proposed jointly with "Atameken" to develop a strategy for the dairy industry

The head of the largest agricultural holding " Olzha Agro" Alisher Khodzhanazarov made a report to the Prime Minister of the country. He voiced an acute problem in the industry - the reduction of livestock and shared his initiative for the further development of the dairy industry, reports World of NAN.

In his speech, the head of Olzha Agro noted that in addition to crop production, the holding is also engaged in milk processing. And as a processor, he is concerned about the reduction of livestock in private farms over the past few years. Meanwhile, dairy farms of the holding depend on 70% of milk, received from private farms. According to Alisher Khodzhanazarov, the trend of reduction of livestock may lead to difficult consequences in the future throughout the country - the rise in price of dairy products for the population and dependence on imports.

In this regard, the decision of the Government to invest 100 billion tenge in the creation of dairy farms, the head of the holding company called a very timely and necessary initiative.

"However, for such programs and investments into the branch to be effective, it is necessary to work out a strategy of development of all dairy industry, taking into account the success factors of successful enterprises. To date, the average milk yield in the country is 10 liters, while the productivity indicators in neighboring Russia are 20-22 liters. That is, we are half as productive as our main competitor. It turns out that increasing the volume will not solve the problem. Therefore we should not just build farms, but profitable farms. Otherwise, losing this competition, Kazakh companies will be forced to close, "- said A. Khodzhanazarov.

In this regard, the head of Olzha Agro proposed to create a working group to develop a strategy for the dairy industry on the basis of the NCE Atameken Committee. With the active participation of the Ministry of Agriculture of the country, world experts and business representatives.

"I think that our country should have a long-term strategy for the development of the dairy industry. Just not the one where the Ministry of Agriculture, far from the industry, wrote it while locked in an office or found a consulting company to develop a strategy, paid a lot of money and created a document that will gather dust on the shelf. But one that will be developed by experts, the frontrunners from the industry, together with the Ministry of Agriculture and, perhaps, foreign industry (from the dairy industry) consultants," Khodzhanazarov wrote in social networks.
