In Kazakhstan, the price of agricultural machinery is going up, and because of the shutdown of factories in Ukraine, local farmers are already facing a shortage of components, World of NAN reports with reference to Khabar 24.
Yuriy Iskakov is a small farmer. He has been engaged in farming for a short time and now he is faced with the task of building a fleet. He wanted to buy a modern Chinese tractor, but had to choose a less comfortable, but affordable one.
"It used to cost 20 million, now it costs 25 million. I am going to buy another tractor, made in Belarus, but it is also produced in Kazakhstan. It costs 18 million. Once everything is documented, about 25% is subsidized by the state. This is not a bad help," said Yuriy Iskakov, head of the farm.
All farm equipment has gone up in price. Spare parts for it are also becoming prohibitively expensive. According to the experts, the prices have already gone up 30%. However, the increased cost of components is not the only problem. Most likely there will soon be a shortage of them. Almost all spare parts for agricultural machinery in Kazakhstan are imported from the CIS countries.
"Prices will still go up due to the fact that metal prices are going up. This is the first thing. Currency instability is the second. Due to the fact that there will be a shortage of these spare parts, I think this need our businessmen will look for in other countries. At the moment, I see China and Turkey as alternatives. There are Turkish manufacturing plants with which we are already negotiating," said Oirat Mukhamedzhanov, Commercial Director of the company supplying agricultural equipment.
What's even better is to use the challenges as an opportunity for import substitution. Domestic factories producing agricultural parts can be counted on the fingers of one hand. According to experts, now businessmen must think about new production facilities and occupy a niche in the agro-industrial market.
The agrarians of the NKR need 170 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers. They are mostly imported from Russia, and their cost has risen several times too. For example, if in January, urea, or simply nitrogen, cost 130 thousand tenge per ton, now it costs 450 thousand tenge. And if we reduce the use of various minerals, it will lead to low crop yields.
