Agriculture in the European Union is on the verge of a robotic revolution. Farmers are being helped by machines with artificial intelligence used for harvesting and preparing crops, reports World of NAN.
According to French agronomist Bertrand Pinel, the agricultural sector in Europe must use robots even more to be productive and remain competitive. This will help with labor-intensive tasks, such as weeding, as well as filling labor shortages that are currently occurring.
According to freshplaza, Pinel is part of the ROBS4CROPS project, which involves about 50 experts and 16 organizations involved in implementing robotics on farms in Spain, the Netherlands, Greece and France.
They are looking at several uses for robots, from crop protection, soil sampling, harvesting to weeding and other manual tasks usually performed by humans.
