Farmers are urged to reduce rice and cotton crops

Vice-Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Arsen Zhakanbayev presented the plan of the growing season at the meeting of the Majilis Committee on Agrarian Issues, World of NAN reports with reference to inform.kz.

To date, a special Work Plan of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the non-vegetation and vegetation periods of 2023-2024 has been developed to prepare for the growing season of 2024.

"Within the framework of the plan, provincial Akimats need to ensure coordination of water supply organizations with farmers to provide them with irrigation water, compliance with irrigation technologies, application of irrigation priority and reuse of collector-drainage water. As well as to ensure repair and cleaning of main and inter-farm canals of irrigation network of communal property, together with the Ministry of Agriculture to gradually reduce the area under crops of moisture-loving crops (rice and cotton), - explained the Vice-Minister.
