The ceremony was held for the launch of construction of Kazakhstan's logistics center in Xi'an

President of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev during his state visit to the People's Republic of China took part in the online ceremony of launching the construction of Kazakhstan's logistics center in the dry port of Xi'an, World of NAN reports.

The head of state congratulated the participants of the ceremony on the start of construction and noted the importance of this project, the Akorda press service said. The President noted that today's event fully echoes the initiative of PRC President Xi Jinping on the creation of the Silk Road Economic Belt, which he launched 10 years ago in Astana. It was noted in the speech that Kazakhstan pays special attention to the development of transport and logistics infrastructure and provides maximum support to the global project.

"Over the past 15 years, our country has invested $35 billion in this industry. We have created a Kazakh-Chinese logistics center in the port of Lianyungang. We opened new railway routes. A dry port "Khorgos - Eastern Gate" began to work. A modern infrastructure has been created on the Caspian Sea. We can say that these measures are part of the ongoing work. Last year, 23 million tons of cargo was transported between the two countries by rail. This is an unprecedented figure. Transit of cargo in the first quarter of this year increased by 35%, exceeding 7 million tons. Our cooperation is not limited to this. Additional infrastructure is required for further development of transportation. This is why, together with our Chinese colleagues, we decided to build a logistics hub in the dry port of Xi'an. This hub connects the Shaanxi region with Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Then it will open the way to Europe, Turkey, and Iran. I am confident that the full launch of the project will give a new impetus to the cooperation between the two countries," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Acting Mayor of Xi'an Ye Niuping and Nurlan Sauranbayev, chairman of the board of "KTZh" NC JSC, also spoke at the ceremony.

Starting next year, electronics and computer components, cars and car components, textiles, clothes, shoes and accessories, food and agricultural products, construction products and building materials, as well as ores, metals and chemical products will be transported through the dry port.
