Status of lands around settlements to be strengthened for grazing of livestock

Deputies of the Senate Committee on Agrarian Affairs want to toughen the criterion of non-use of pastures and give a new status to lands around settlements, reports World of NAN with reference to the Senate.

The law provides for amendments to the Land Code aimed at expanding the powers of local executive bodies of the region to develop and approve action plans to combat degradation and desertification, as well as watering of pastures.

The norms on granting land plots for temporary gratuitous land use for distant cattle breeding and grazing are excluded. The law proposes to toughen the criterion of non-use of pastures by increasing the number of farm animals required for grazing from 20% to 50% of the norm of load.

In addition, the Forest Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan is amended to oblige forestry and environmental institutions to annually provide information to local executive bodies on areas of the state forest fund where haying and grazing are possible.

The Law "On Pastures" introduces the concept of "public pastures", aimed at strengthening the status of lands around settlements, intended for grazing of livestock of the rural population.
