The value of rice in the country has fallen, farmers think to increase exports

In the first nine months of 2021 the country produced 164.9 thousand tons of rice - 10% more than a year earlier, along with this marked a slight drop in the cost, reports World of NAN, citing the monitoring agency Energyprom.kz.

Regional leader of production is Kyzylorda region - 150.5 tons, 5% more within a year. Turkestan region came next - 7.5 thousand tons, Almaty region produced 6.9 thousand tons of the product.

Local companies covered 97.8% of the demand for eight months against 96.2% a year earlier. As a result, sales on the domestic market reached 82.7 thousand tons - 7% more than a year before. On the background of production growth, imports decreased by 36.5% during this period for the year, to 3.4 thousand tons. Export of the product grew by 7.6%, to 69.1 thousand tons. In this case, Kyzylorda farmers intend to increase the share of exports and reduce the need for imported products.

In October this year, the price of a kilo of rice in stores and markets was 367 tg - 2.2% less than a year ago. In the capital, Atyrau, Karaganda and Mangistau regions, on the contrary, there was an increase in the cost of the product. In other regions of the country, an insignificant decrease in prices was recorded.
