A pig farm was illegally allocated land in East Kazakhstan Region

The Land Committee of Kazakhstan has revealed the illegal transfer of land in Ulan district of Eastern Kazakhstan to the company "Eco Vostok LtD". The company had intended to build a pig farm in the region, World of NAN reports citing ulysmedia.

According to the Land Committee Chairman - Chief State Inspector for Land Use and Protection Murat Temirzhanov, the Land Resources Management Committee received a complaint from Ulan District in August 2022. Local residents were outraged by the fact that land plots had been illegally allocated in the rural district of Yeginsu for the construction of a pig farm.

Already in September 2022, in accordance with the instructions of the Committee, the Department of Land Management of the region began to operate. In particular, the department conducted an unscheduled inspection in relation to the akimat of Ulan district concerning the legality of the granting to "Eco Vostok LtD" a land plot with a total area of 518 hectares for the construction of a pig farm.

As a result of the inspection, on November 23, 2022 a statement of claim was sent to court to cancel the decisions of local executive bodies and land lease agreements. At present the claim is being considered in court.

To recall, the issue of construction of a pig farm in Ulan district was previously considered in Ayrtau rural district as well. However, the residents opposed the establishment of the farm on their territory. After that, the company turned its attention to Yeginsu rural district. However, even there, the local population opposes the construction of the pig farm and continues to complain to the competent authorities.

According to the residents, they are not against the opening of new enterprises, but they categorically do not support the breeding of pigs, as it contradicts the national traditions and mentality. In addition, the villagers are sure that there will be a lot of environmental damage from the pig farm. From stinky smells to soil deterioration from waste. After all, as is known, nothing else grows on the spoiled soil.

The investors assure that the enterprise will provide jobs for many people and will bring income to the budget. But the residents of the village, as they say, do not need such benefits.
