Chinese customs officers will lift restrictions on imports of Kazakh meat

Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliyev held talks with Deputy Head of the General Customs Administration of China Sun Yuning in Beijing, World of NAN reports with reference to the Ministry of Trade.

The parties discussed issues of expanding the nomenclature of export commodities of livestock and crop products.

"We have held meetings with many Chinese companies that have been to Kazakhstan more than once and are ready to buy Kazakh meat: beef, lamb, chicken and by-products. Negotiations on investment cooperation are underway, large Chinese companies are ready to invest considerable funds for meat production in Kazakhstan with the purpose of further export to the Chinese market. But to create the necessary conditions, we need to remove existing restrictions and resume exports of meat products," said Arman Shakkaliyev.

The Chinese side is ready to remove the restriction and move on to discuss the export of livestock products, after inspections. In addition, the Chinese side agrees to start work in parallel to harmonize veterinary requirements for heat-treated beef, lamb and poultry meat.
