Top Kazakhstan flour producers

The World of NAN editorial analyst continues to update the rating of the largest companies in Kazakhstan according to their tax payments in 2023. This time we present the top 30 companies whose main activity is officially flour production.

There are also three companies in the list, which have other main activities, but they offer their customers flour of their own production.

The top 30 companies paid a combined ₸21.8 billion in taxes in 2023, an 8% increase from 2022. Our overall top 30, consisting of agricultural companies and food manufacturers, also showed an 8% increase in taxes in 2023. In other words, overall, flour producers in 2023 were within industry-set trends.

The concentration of major players among flour producers has decreased. The top 5 companies account for only 32% of taxes (40% in 2022), indicating stronger competition among market players. The following companies were included in the top 5: Salamat Company, Novo-Aljan Melkombinat, JFood Kazakhstan, Zhelayevsky Kombinat Khlebproduktov, and Asiaagrofud.

Romana-Nan dropped out of the previous top five and was replaced by Asiaagrofud JSC. Salamat Company retained the first rank, and Novo-Aljan Melkombinat moved up from rank 4 to 2.

The greatest progress in 2023 was shown by Sultan-EMMK, which rose by 6 positions relative to the previous ranking. Pioneer Grain Products (+5 positions) and Veles-Agro (+4) also showed good progress. On the other hand, Mibeko (-13) and Sei-Nar (-10) fell down in the ranking. The ranking also included 5 newcomers, the largest among which (Irchenko Elevator) ranked 16th.

The largest increase in tax payments in 2023 was shown by Asalia LLP, which grew by 171% y/y, from ₸190 million to ₸514 million. The following large companies also showed good growth: Pioneer Grain Products (+80%) and Asiaagrofood (+77%). The largest decrease in tax deductions in the ranking is seen in Mibeco (-37%). Also, the same indicator fell by 35% at Sei-Nar.
