Three people were infected with anthrax from livestock

Cases of anthrax infection were identified among residents of Tamdy, Talas and Koltogan, Zhualy districts of Zhambyl region, reports the World of NAN with reference to the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control.

"The epidemiological history in three cases indicated contact with sick farm animals: the sick took part in the slaughter of livestock without veterinary examination, and the factor of infection was the meat of sick cattle. In one case, the source of infection has not been identified," - noted the Committee.

Recall that most often people become infected with anthrax by contact with sick animals: when caring for livestock, slaughtering, cutting carcasses, processing meat, working with animal raw materials. The pathogen enters the human body through damaged skin or microtraumas of the mucous membranes.

Prevention of anthrax:

- identification, recording, and decontamination of burial sites for anthrax-infected cadavers;

- full vaccination of animals in anthrax-prone areas;

- immediate reporting of all suspected cases of disease and death of livestock to veterinary institutions;

- compulsory invitation of a veterinary specialist to conduct a pre-slaughter inspection of the animal.
