Turkish investors to continue investing in agriculture

The head of Zhambyl region Berdibek Saparbayev met with Turkish investors who intend to implement a number of large-scale projects in the region, World of NAN reports citing the press service of the akim.

The head of municipality Iskilip Ali Syulyuk thanked the head of the region for the warm welcome and spoke about plans to implement promising projects in the Zhambyl region.

In turn, Berdibek Saparbayev noted that the geographical location and climatic conditions of the region allow cultivation of various crops, including vegetables and fruits. "We have been cooperating with Turkish investors for many years. As you know, Kazakhstan is taking all necessary measures to improve the investment climate," stated the akim.

During the meeting they discussed the construction of a shop for drying vegetables and fruits, the introduction of sprinkler installations and drilling wells, seed production. Also, investors expressed their intention to set up processing of agro-industrial complex products. Berdibek Saparbayev assured guests that all projects will receive full support. After that he instructed the heads of several regional departments to immediately proceed to implementation of project offered by Turkish investors, avoiding bureaucratic procedures.

It is worth noting that the Turkish investors have already begun implementation of some projects in the region. As such, in 2021, they planted sugar beet on an area of 161 hectares, strawberries on 13 hectares, sunflower - 53 hectares, corn - 49 hectares. Plans for 2022 are to plant 600 hectares of cereals, 200 hectares of sugar beets, 150 hectares of sunflowers, 20 hectares of strawberries, and 50 hectares of other berries.
