A Kazakh farmer has developed a heavyweight breed of sheep

A farmer from Turkestan region has bred a new breed of sheep - "Baisary". It is distinguished by its strong constitution. One of the representatives of the breed - a ram named Million was recognized as the heaviest in the country, its weight is 231 kilograms, reports World of NAN with reference to 24.kz.

The record was confirmed by representatives of the Book of Records. Million was recognized as the heaviest at an international exhibition. The ram's height is 1 meter 5 centimeters. Its offspring is also of impressive size. A lamb named Million weighs 125 kilograms with a height of 96 centimeters.

Saryagash farmer Kuanysh Myktybayev is passionate about breeding pedigree sheep. He says not even the inflated price can change his decision. The entrepreneur imports sheep from Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. He intends to officially register a new Kazakhstani breed of sheep.

"We have submitted an application. If everything works out, we'll make the documents and register it as 'Baisary'." The Edilbayev breed and the breed brought from Kyrgyzstan, the Gissar breed, are mixed here, and there are also roots from Afghanistan. But the basis is the coarse-wooled Edilbayev breed," the farmer said.

Heavy sheep are a good source of income. Ordinary rams weigh 30 kilograms at the age of one year, "Baisars" reach 75 already at four months, and by a year - up to 120 kilograms.

"I once refused to sell this ram for 100,000 dollars. Now this is their average price. And at the time I got him for 40 thousand dollars. This lamb is of Kazakhstani origin. If you have a thousand of these sheep and you take care of them properly, you can earn a million dollars a year," said the cattle breeder.

Mongolian herders have ordered 2-3,000 sheep from a Turkestan farmer. Kyrgyz farmers have come out with a purchase offer. Uzbekistan is also showing interest in heavyweight sheep. Thus, the meat-bearing Baysar breed is gaining popularity abroad.
