The livestock industry does not have a clear development guideline

Mazhilis deputy Serik Egizbaev criticized the strategy for the development of the livestock industry. In his opinion, it is necessary to develop deep processing of livestock products for export, World of NAN reports.

“Our revenue after slaughtering 1 head of cattle is 475 thousand tenge, in China – 937 thousand tenge. At the same time, we mainly process meat and offal, while in China everything is processed, including skin, horns, hooves, bones, animal blood and more,” the deputy is indignant.

For example, last year, out of a total volume of 42 thousand tons of wool produced, 34 thousand tons or 81% were not processed, but were simply burned or thrown into a landfill. Also, out of three and a half million cattle hides, only 208 thousand pieces or 6% were processed, and the rest was also sent to landfill.

Livestock farmers in Kazakhstan are missing out on huge benefits. Therefore, the state should pay attention to the development of deep processing of livestock products.

By the way, to stimulate domestic processing enterprises, the Ministry of Agriculture plans to subsidize farmers when delivering hides and wool for processing. It is also planned to create procurement centers, including for farm animal skins and wool, in all regions of the country. But for now this is just planned. We know very well how plans are being implemented in our country.
