In Pavlodar region, grain crops have been harvested on 219 thousand hectares, 93.4 thousand tons have been threshed with an average yield of 4.3 centners per hectare, World of NAN reports with reference to Pavlodarnews.kz.
Such indicators look logical against the background of lack of moisture during the growing season. In summer, according to Kazhydromet, spring wheat yields were predicted to be below normal in Pavlodar, Uspensky and Terenkol districts.
In the main grain-growing district - Irtysh - up to 15,000 hectares of crops were written off due to drought. The most affected were Karakuduk, Kyzylzhar, Issy Baizakovsky, and Northern rural districts.
As for fodder, the district tries to mow everything: unused, unclaimed fields. In spring, the Irtysh flooded only 25 percent of meadows, which aggravates the situation.
Mayskiy district and Akkuli suffered the most from low water. The authorities are working on various options to help farmers. They envision subsidizing the purchase of hay. They are also discussing the issue of mowing hard-to-reach meadows.
Recall, in 2022 the grain harvest in the region amounted to 1.25 million tons. The average yield was at the level of 11 centners.
