Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will start the implementation of joint projects in the agricultural sector. All of them are included in the road map for the implementation of investment agreements and trade contracts, signed during the visit of the President of Kazakhstan in Tashkent in 2022. Under the agreements, feedlots, grain, berry and meat processing facilities will appear in Kazakhstan, World of NAN reports.
Arman Shakkaliyev, First Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, spoke about the details of the implementation of the Road Map at the Asia Grain Conference.
"The project on joint cultivation of grain and forage crops for further export to Uzbekistan will be launched in Akmola and Kostanay regions by the end of 2023. In the near future the Uzbek side plans to visit regions to determine the land plots and terms of partnership "- said A.Shakkaliyev.
According to the First Vice-Minister, the joint projects also include construction of a fattening area for 20,000 cattle and meat processing complex. In addition, the construction of a plant for processing fruit and berry crops in Turkestan region is planned. The road map also envisages the creation of a grain processing cluster for deep processing of up to 1 million tons of Kazakh grain and the launch of a project for refining vegetable oil on the site of the International Center for Industrial Cooperation "Central Asia".
Within the framework of expansion of trade cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan a joint export-import company UZKAZTRADE was set up, 50 percent of which belongs to Kazakhstan's QazTrade JSC and 50 percent to Uzbekistan's UZTRADE. At the initial stage, it is planned to purchase fruit and vegetable products from Uzbekistan to meet the needs of the Kazakh market.
The importance of Uzbek direction for Kazakh entrepreneurs is clearly reflected in the figures. As Arman Shakkaliyev noted, the most popular tool of state support for exporters was compensation of part of transportation costs and the cost of promoting goods in foreign markets, including the market of Uzbekistan.
"Out of 8.85 billion tenge directed to Kazakhstani exporters for reimbursement of expenses, in the context of export directions on approved applications almost 18% came to Uzbekistan. Moreover, during two years of implementation of "QazTrade" Export Acceleration Program 85 domestic commodity producers chose Uzbekistan as target market for promotion of their products (in 2021 - 29 companies, in 2022 - 56 companies)," the Ministry of Trade noted.
