Investment in the agro-industrial complex of Kazakhstan increased by 40.5% over 11 months

At a government meeting chaired by the Prime Minister of the country the progress of investment projects in the agro-industrial complex was considered. As reported by the Minister of Agriculture Y. Karashukeyev, there has been a 15% reduction of import dependence for the year through the implementation of investment projects, World of NAN reports with reference to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

In order to further develop the agro-industrial sector of Kazakhstan, the implementation of 934 investment projects has been planned which will ensure the attraction of 4.4 trillion tonnes of investment into the industry by 2025. Due to the measures taken, investments in fixed capital in agriculture increased by 40.5% in the first 11 months of this year. The saturation of the domestic market with domestic food amounted to 85%, the volume of exports compared to 9 months of 2020 increased by 14.3%. This result was achieved despite a decrease in the harvest due to unfavorable weather conditions.

Through the holding "Baiterek" on the investment projects of agriculture for the year 63 billion tenge have been allocated, and in general about 400 billion tenge on financing of agriculture. The head of the government noted the positive dynamics of investment projects in agriculture in all regions. As such, this year, 266 investment projects of agro-industrial complex were put into operation for a total amount of 239 billion tenge, including 36 dairy farms, 27 projects on processing of plant products, 6 meat processing plants, 13 poultry farms. Due to the implementation of these projects, import dependence was reduced by 15% during the year. The provision of the domestic market with domestically produced dairy products increased from 51.4% to 70%, sausage products - from 60.5% to 70%, poultry - from 58% to 75%, apples - from 73% to 80%. Sugar production increased from 31.1% to 60%, and fish farming increased by 4 thousand tons or 30% for the year.

"It is necessary to increase the volume of production of processed agricultural products by encouraging the cluster development of production, combining small producers and processors into agricultural cooperatives. The implementation of these projects is primarily aimed at ensuring food security of the country. In general, it is required to remove import dependence on all major food products by the end of 2023", - said A. Mamin.

Prime Minister noted that as the domestic market is saturated, it is important to increase the volume of exports by expanding the geography of supplies and types of products. At the same time it is necessary to provide access to storage infrastructure and logistics, which occupy the main share in the cost of goods. The Head of the Government stressed that, given the growing demand in the world market for food products, Kazakhstan has a real opportunity to become one of the world's food hubs. A. Mamin instructed to provide special control and support for the implementation of investment projects, especially on import-dependent commodity items. The Ministry of Agriculture together with the Ministry of Economy and the holding "Baiterek" was instructed to ensure timely funding of investment projects, together with the akimats - to ensure the fulfillment of state obligations on payment of subsidies to agricultural producers in the current year.
