Rapeseed could be sold at a higher price this year

Experts have warned of a possible shortage of rapeseed, and called for expansion of sowing under the crop, reports World of NAN citing Feedlot.

The International Grains Council (IGC) estimates rapeseed production for the 2024-2025 season at 87.2 million tonnes (-2% year-on-year). The reasons are declining yields and acreage.

Harvests are expected to fall in Australia, the EU and Ukraine. The biggest drop will occur in the EU, with a projected harvest of 17.8 million tonnes in 2024 (-10.6% year-on-year).

At the same time, demand for rapeseed continues to grow due to the smooth phase-out of palm oil as a biofuel base in Germany, France and Sweden.

The expected reduction in production could lead to higher prices, so Kazakh farmers have every chance to make a good profit.
