The European Crop Monitoring Agency (MARS) has downgraded yield forecasts for almost all important crops in Europe, this is due to difficult weather conditions, reports World of NAN.
However, yield estimates remain close to the five-year average. The durum wheat yield forecast has been downgraded the most. This is mainly due to severe yield reductions across France and Italy.
The soft wheat yield forecast was also revised downwards in Italy, Romania and the Netherlands. Excessive rainfall continued across much of western Europe and northern Italy. Excessive water persisted in the Benelux countries, western Germany, north-eastern France and northern Italy, negatively affecting crop growth and fieldwork.
Sowing of spring crops is still ongoing in some of these regions, with a total delay of up to two months.
