The Ministry of Agriculture together with JSC NC ‘Kazakh Invest’ is supporting 55 projects with the participation of foreign investors for a total of $3.8 bln, World of NAN reports with reference to the government.
Thus, the Swiss company INOKS Capital will create an orchard and build a fruit processing plant in Almaty region. PepsiCo will launch the production of salty snacks in Almaty region with investments of $160m. Also in Almaty region Citic Construction will build a plant for deep processing of grain, and Mareven Food will produce soft drinks.
QazBioPharm together with French company Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health will set up production of vaccines against foot-and-mouth disease in Zhambyl oblast. Spanish consortium BigFarm will invest $132 million in the construction of an integrated livestock complex in Akmola region. And Coca-Cola Almaty Bottlers LLP will produce soft drinks in Shymkent.
The Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were instructed to support the projects and attract other transnational companies to the agro-industrial complex.
