The first sturgeon farm was opened in Kostanay region

The farm's annual capacity is 20 tonnes, including 10 tonnes of live weight sturgeon and 10 tonnes of processed sturgeon. It will also produce 100 thousand fry. Created

"Thanks to the available mechanisms of business support from the state in 2023, we were granted a soft loan for the purchase of equipment and the purchase of sturgeon fry. Also, with the help of the state, we are being supplied with electricity, and the work is being finalised. The available electrical parameters allowed us to launch fry into the tanks. We plan that in the second half of the year they will enter the market and become available for retail sales to the residents of our region and not only," Valentin Ishchenko shared.

According to Akim of the region Kumar Aksakalov, in reality, the state pays special attention to the food industry.

"We have enough agricultural raw materials and other auxiliary components for the development of food production. Entrepreneurs need to become active in this direction, the niche is quite competitive. It is necessary to take an example from such enterprising and enterprising young people as Valentin. Moreover, the state first of all stimulates the types of products with high added value, aimed at saturating the domestic market" - said the head of the region.

In general, it is expected that the launched farm will satisfy the demand of the region's residents for one of the valuable fish species, and will also allow to successfully compete with imported marine processed fish products from abroad on the domestic market.
