In Kostanay region it is proposed to create a sheep breeding cluster

A sheep breeding development program was presented in the region on the example of a pilot project implemented in the Abay region to be scaled in the city of Arkalyk. For this purpose, the management of the regional NCE Atameken met with the Akim Kumar Aksakalov, World of NAN reports with reference to kstnews.

After that, members of Atameken's Board went to Arkalyk, where they visited enterprises and met with farmers.

The program of sheep breeding development was presented at the meeting with the Akim of the region by the candidate of agricultural sciences, an expert in sheep breeding - Sergazy Isembayev.

"At the initiative of NCE "Atameken" it was decided to offer this business idea to Kostanay region as well.  We have studied the experience of Australia on export of breeding animals. Taking also into account the experience that has been accumulated in different regions of Kazakhstan, a project of a fattening and reproduction sheep farm was developed", - said Sergazy Isembayev.

The expert believes that in our country it is accepted that one farmer can keep from 500 to 600 heads, although this figure can be up to 10 thousand heads.

"Having studied the potential of Arkalyk region, we see the prospect for implementing this business idea. In addition, there is a large meat processing plant in the region. Taking this into account, a sheep breeding cluster can be created in the region", - notes Sergazy Isembayev.

The expert revealed the essence of the business idea. It's about fencing around 2 thousand hectares of pasture and building a facility that allows one farmer to keep up to 3 thousand animals, including in winter, and to pasture animals. Plus, a mechanism has been developed to create a fattening area for 30 thousand heads. Therefore, it is possible to create a sheep breeding cluster in Arkalyk, using the Australian method of keeping and fattening sheep. Financial support can be provided through collateral loans, through SEC.

Maksat Kikimov, First Deputy Chairman of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurship of the Republic of Kazakhstan is confident that the efforts of the Chamber of Entrepreneurship and business should be united in this direction.

Constant constructive dialogue and mutual support of businesses and akimats is very important here.

Kumar Aksakalov, Akim of Kostanay Region, noted that the Region has a huge land, pasture and forage potential. Therefore, it is necessary to create conditions for development of cattle breeding. It will influence development of export potential of the country. For example, a meat factory was built in the region, which has no analogues in the country. Everything is automated here, but the enterprise is only 30 % utilized. The same is true for some enterprises in Arkalyk.

Based on the results of the visit, measures will be developed to implement the proposed business idea.
