The preparation to the sowing season was discussed in the Ministry of Agriculture

The first meeting of the operational headquarters for the preparation for the spring field works in 2023 was held. According to the regional akimats, the forecasted sowing areas this year will be identical to last year's figures and will amount to more than 23 million hectares, reports World of NAN.

"It is planned to increase the sown areas of forage grain and fodder crops. Preliminarily, no less than 18 thousand hectares will be sown with sugar beets. Growth of vegetable and gourds crops is expected. Also sown area of rice will increase by 9.9 thousand hectares," - noted in the press service of the ministry.

The implementation of subsidizing programs in crop production will be continued. Thus, in 2023 local budgets provided 11.4 billion tenge to subsidize the development of seed production, which allows to maintain a high percentage of seed no less than the third reproduction of 97%.

As for mineral fertilizers, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, the demand this year is 703 thousand tons.

"The local budgets allocated 31.3 billion tenge for the fertilizer subsidy program, but this is not enough to fully meet the needs of farmers, given the rise in prices for fertilizers," - said the agency. Therefore, the Ministry of Agriculture considers it necessary for akimats to consider increasing the volume of budgetary funds based on the needs.

Note that farmers may apply for subsidies through a new state information system gosagro.kz.

SFWs will involve 141.7 thousand tractors, 4.3 thousand units of highly productive seeding complexes, 73.2 thousand planters and 221.2 thousand tillage implements.

By results of meeting of operational headquarters it was recommended to Akimats of regions to correct the forecasted structure of seeding areas taking into account production of socially important crops and to conduct a special control of their production. Also keep the issue of providing farmers with seeds, fuel and lubricants and other material assets under constant control.
