Corn is rotting in Zhetysu region

Farmers in Zhetysu region have a serious problem with the issue of corn sales and lack of places to store the excessive stock of the crop. They voiced these problems to Vice Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov, reports World of NAN with reference to NCE.

The farmers expressed their dissatisfaction with the local executive authorities. Despite a good harvest, the LEAs have not created the necessary conditions. Agrarians in the Zhetysu region have faced serious difficulties in transporting the corn crop; they do not know where to put it. According to them, the crop is rotting. Now, they are waiting for a way out of the situation.

"We need to solve the issue of corn in particular already. We received the harvest, because of high humidity the corn rotted, there is nowhere to store it. We have lost our markets and it is not the farmer's fault. For example, not a single Russian farmer went to China or Uzbekistan to sell his corn or his goods. It was all done by government agencies, they did it all, negotiated and provided everything. Why don't our officials do it?", asks farmer Alexander Kvitko.

To date, many people have taken advantage of this and lowered the price. There is no dry corn in the warehouse. Even if farmers decide to sell the goods at a reduced price, they will remain at a loss. And what about those who have rotted corn? What can the state do? What kind of help can be expected?

The Vice-Minister promised to help agrarians as an official should, but asked to form all proposals on paper.
