World Organisation for Animal Health confirmed the status of FMD in some regions of Kazakhstan

The World Organisation for Animal Health has announced the completion of a review by the Scientific Commission on Animal Diseases of the annual re-certification of already officially recognised countries and zones free from FMD, World of NAN reports citing the Ministry of Agriculture.

According to the results of the WOAH inspection, it was recommended to reconfirm the status of 5 south-eastern zones of Kazakhstan free from FMD with vaccination. These zones include Almaty, East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Turkestan and Kyzylorda regions. The FMD free status of these areas was obtained in 2017.

Also the Scientific Commission considered the status of the country on African horse sickness, according to the results of the study it was recommended to confirm the status of Kazakhstan free from this disease.
