The law on livestock breeding entered into force

December 11 the Law "On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on issues of livestock breeding and turnover of biofuels" came into force. The document introduced amendments and additions to the legislation on livestock breeding, reports World of NAN.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, the adopted regulations are aimed at improving the genetic potential of livestock breeds and improving the quality of selection and breeding work. It also aims to accelerate the growth rate of breeding stock and increase their productivity.

"In addition, the terms in the conceptual apparatus are brought into line with the agreement on measures to unify the breeding work with farm animals within the Eurasian Economic Union. This will enable the implementation of a coordinated agro-industrial policy in the breeding work with farm animals in the EEU member states," explained the Ministry of Agriculture.

The law also introduces the competence of the authorized body to develop and approve the rules of index evaluation of animals. This method is necessary for the development of useful traits necessary for the owner of the animal.

"The authorized body will develop and approve the rules for genomic evaluation. It will enable the identification of breeding value at an early age, reduce the cost of animals, putting the best producers on the evaluation, increase the intensity of the selection of producers, increase genetic progress and efficiency in each breed, "- the ministry said.

Specialists added that the jurisdiction for the development and approval of rules of molecular genetic examination of animals to obtain accurate information about its origin is being introduced. In addition, it provides strengthening of the authority of Kazakh scientific research organizations of agricultural profile.

The law provides for regulation of peculiarities of preventive control in the field of breeding livestock according to the requirements of the Commercial Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Because of this it will be possible to stop in time and prevent violations without visiting the subject (object) of control, and most importantly subjects will be able to independently eliminate violations identified by the authorized body.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture in the republic as a whole, positive dynamics of growth of specific weight of pedigree animals is preserved. The number of pedigree cattle in all categories of farms on January 1, 2022 is 1.06 million heads or 13% of total population in the country. For example, 12 years ago the share of pedigree cattle was 2.9%.
