The Association of Agricultural Producers of Kostanay region of Kazakhstan has proposed to ban the import of grain processing products, World of NAN reports.
Kazakhstan has completely banned imports of wheat from Russia. But, according to the agrarians, these measures are not enough and the norms need to be tightened.
"The views on the harvest are good, so we believe it is important to tighten the norms on the importation of grain from Russia and add a clause to the decree "to ban the importation of all types of wheat and its processed products." We will raise this issue with the government again," explained Alexander Borodin, the Association's representative.
According to the Association, some companies still find options and import grain. Sometimes they use various tricks, including milling wheat and importing it as crushed wheat, and then crushing it into flour or importing ready-made flour. Thus, demand for local wheat remains low.
