Farmers ask to protect the market from Russian products

Farmers in North Kazakhstan Region said that this year the pressure of Russian agricultural products on the market has worsened, World of NAN reports with reference to inform.kz.

This year, the purchase price for milk has fallen from 250 to 205 KZT, according to Olzhas Bektasov, director of the Kyzylzhar Sut LLP dairy farm. Plants are forced to take this step because of imported products.

"We are feeling pressure from Russian and Belarusian dairy products. North Kazakhstan processing plants are experiencing returns and losses. This has become especially noticeable since January this year. We would like our market to be somehow protected," said Mr. Bektasov.

Talgat Maktayev, deputy director of production at Severny Broiler LLP, described the same problem faced by a young poultry farm in Akkaiynsky District.

"Russian meat coming to the market is heavily discounting, and this has become especially noticeable this year. We are trying to reduce the price, but we do not want to run at a loss," complained the poultry farmer.
