Investors will build plants for processing legumes and production of dehydrated vegetables in Kazakhstan

Two foreign companies began implementation of projects in processing of agricultural products in Kazakhstan. Minister of Agriculture met with foreign investors. Yerbol Karashukeyev was told about details of future enterprises, reports World of NAN.

In particular, the Chinese company Wanlin Group Limited intends to build a plant to produce dehydrated vegetables in the Zhambyl region, which is a leader in onion production.

"President of the company Li Yantao said that the project is planned in three phases over 5 years, and the total investment is $ 30 million. The investor has already carried out a pilot planting of onions in three districts of Zhambyl region, the results of crop tests are expected," - said the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Wanlin Group Limited has two large plants for the production of dehydrated vegetables in China. The products are mainly exported to the U.S. and Europe. The company cooperates with such major partners as Nestle, Unilever, Kerry and others.

A new legume processing plant of the Turkish company Arbel will open in the Kostanay region in mid-May.

"Chairman of the company Huseyin Aslan said that the plant will employ about 70 people. The expected annual production capacity will be about 170 thousand tons of peas, red and green lentils, chickpeas and durum wheat. The volume of investments at the first stage is 8.5 million dollars. At the moment the technological equipment is being installed, as well as getting the appropriate approvals," say the Ministry of Agriculture.

The head of the Ministry of Agriculture underlined that after the realization of this enterprise the Turkish company could consider the project on deep processing of grain. This direction today is one of the most promising, given the positioning of Kazakhstan as a country-producer of high-quality grain in the world, concluded Yerbol Karashukeyev.

It is important to note that foreign investors do not claim Kazakh agricultural land, work on implementation of projects is built in cooperation with local farmers.
