225 drought-affected households receive aid from the U.S.

Thanks to a grant from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Red Crescent of Kazakhstan began providing financial assistance to the most vulnerable households affected by the drought in the Mangistau region, World of NAN reports, citing informburo.

225 of the most vulnerable households received funds to meet basic needs and to buy fodder for the winter. A total of 1,254 people will receive more than 33 million tenge.

Livestock deaths due to the ongoing drought have severely affected the local population, as livestock are a major source of income.

USAID works with Central Asian countries to mitigate and combat climate change.

The Red Crescent of Kazakhstan is part of the world's largest humanitarian network of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, which aims to alleviate human suffering, protect life and health, and ensure respect for human dignity.
