Pressure on Kazakhstan's dairy industry will continue

This year, Kazakhstan remains the leader in the import of milk powder from Russia, while domestic farmers say it is difficult to sell raw materials, World of NAN reports.

In the first four months of 2024, Russia exported about 5 thousand tons of milk powder (an increase of 2.5 times year on year). And Kazakhstan remains the leader in the import of these products, followed by Algeria, which purchased 1.2 thousand tons of skimmed milk powder.

Also this year, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation set a goal to increase the export of milk powder to 75 thousand tons. Since there is an oversupply of these products on the domestic market. The state helps to capture export destinations by compensating for 100% of the costs of transporting dairy products for export.

Thus, competition for raw materials in Kazakhstan will increase. The government urgently needs to think through protective tools, otherwise dairy farms will have a hard time.
