European farmers once again start protests

In Spain, hundreds of farmers have already blocked eight border crossings with France with tractors. Another protest will be held today in Brussels, reports World of NAN.

The protests are connected with the European Parliament elections to be held on June 6-9. Farmers do not want to allow green policies in the EU and increased energy taxes. Also, activists demand to adjust the prices of fuel and fertilizers.

Recall, earlier in the European Parliament presented the bill, which implied a reduction in the use of pesticides and fertilizers. Also, in a number of countries cancelled subsidies for diesel fuel. This caused mass unrest and the bill was suspended.

Today, farmers fear that the bill will be re-launched after the elections. Therefore, they are showing the authorities their attitude towards such changes. It is crucial for farmers to develop policies in Europe that will ensure a fair transition in agri-food systems.
