Farmers may lose part of their land when extending their leases

Senator Talgat Zhunusov raised a problematic issue in the legal regulation of the use of land plots, World of NAN reports.

Earlier, in order to solve the problem of land shortage, maximum sizes of land plots available for lease to farmers were established. However, these rules are now adversely affecting farmers whose land areas exceed the set limits. Farmers simply cannot renew their right to lease.

"The requirement on the maximum size of land plots should not apply to bona fide land users who managed the land bank before this decision of the Government and the extension of long-term land lease should be carried out for them without withdrawal of part of the land plots exceeding the established limits," the senator said.

In his opinion, it is necessary to remove the existing barriers in a timely manner, namely to make an appropriate addition to the current Government Decision and provide agricultural producers with an opportunity to work effectively.
