Although the President and the Prime Minister have given instructions, and many promises have been made from high podiums. However, the help does not reach farmers, and empty promises do not make farmers feel better, reports World of NAN.
The situation is especially difficult in Korgalzhyn district, Akmola region. Saigas came there along with the drought, and tens of thousands of them have trampled the crops, while the rainy weather complicates harvesting.
"Usually the average yield is around eight centners. But after all the problems we have had this year, we are now threshing no more than 3 centners. With this yield, even at a price of 140 thousand per ton, we will not recover the cost of production. To recover it we need about 5-6 centners at the price of 90 thousand. We managed to harvest only 20 percent, the rest is already sprouting. This is the first time this has happened to me in ten years of work," says farmer Dalel Dzhuzbayev.
The state seems to promise to defer loans, but that's not enough, since there's a question of next year's sowing season, which also requires money. The farmer suggests that along with the prolongation of loans, financial institutions should issue a loan for the sowing season in 2024. Usually banks do not do this, operating on the fact that they have already prolonged their loans. But farmers need such help.
Another problematic issue is seeds. Even seed farms in Kazakhstan will have problems, let alone ordinary farmers. The Agriculture Ministry suggests taking seeds from the Food Corporation, but farmers don't like the idea.
" We know that there are seeds on paper, but in reality it should still be clarified. And what kind of seeds are there? There are not varieties there, there are commodity and everything is mixed. Mid-maturing, early-maturing, awned, not awned, if we sow this hodgepodge now, what kind of crop will we get? What quality? It's all incomprehensible. While the ruble is cheap, prices for Russian seeds are lower. The state should contract and reserve seeds in Russia today. So that we can buy them for next year," Dalel Dzhuzbayev explained.
The farmer is frustrated by the slowness of the state authorities, and he believes that action should be taken now. Because due to the rains, the harvest may lie until October, and all the bread will simply remain under the snow.
"They seem to be moving, the president says something. But now the most important thing is efficiency, we see they are deciding something there. But we have to do it quickly. Like with the Saigas, why couldn't the issue have been resolved in the summer? No, they delayed, and we lost the whole season. They trampled so much grain and they still allowed shooting," says the farmer indignantly.
Naturally, the needs of farmers are difficult for officials to understand, because they sit in warm offices, buried in papers. But the situation is really difficult, and it is not clear why the state of emergency has not been declared yet. For its part, World of NAN conducted a survey among farmers. About 150 farmers took part. 54% of the respondents lost more than 50% of their crops, 22% of them lost quality of 30 to 50% of their crops. Our slow officials should finally think about the scale of the problem. Otherwise, there will simply be no one to grow crops.
