Qatar invests $500 mln in agriculture of Kazakhstan

During the visit of Mr. Tokayev to Qatar, a number of partnership agreements were signed between the states in the agricultural sector, reports World of NAN with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture.

Qatari investors intend to invest in the deep processing of crop products in Kazakhstan: an agreement was signed between the Qatari company Hassad Food, the Turkish company Tiryaki and the National Management Holding Baiterek, which implies arrangements for the construction of a plant in Akmola Region. This project is estimated at $200 million and will deal with deep processing of grain and peas.

In addition, a Strategic Investment Partnership Agreement for the development of agriculture, construction and infrastructure development, healthcare and education between Dinara Group Holding and Qatar National Enterprises was signed in Qatar. It is planned to create a joint direct investment fund for the development of the agricultural sector of Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

Within the framework of the signed Agreement Holding Dinara Group plans to scale existing dairy, meat and crop production, develop its own basis of breeding stock and build additional dairy farms, plans to build a plant for milk processing and cheese production, and export finished products to China and Middle East countries. The volume of investments will amount to about 300 million US dollars, which demonstrates a high level of confidence on the part of partners from Qatar.
