At the annual conference Black and Caspian Sea Ports & Shipping 2022, held in Georgia, the participants discussed the prospects of development of the Caspian transport and communication complex and the potential of the Trans-Caspian international transport route. Issues of increasing export supplies, including Kazakh grain to Georgia, were discussed, World of NAN reports referring to the Ministry of Trade.
Azamat Askaruly, General Director of JSC Center for Trade Policy Development "QazTrade", took part in the forum.
"The Caspian region plays an important role in the formation of commodity flows, being the only sea gateway for Kazakhstan, and provides further access to major sea trade lines", - he said, speaking at the event.
According to Azamat Askaruly, negotiations are now underway for shipments of grain, flour and copper through this route in the near future.
"Port capacities on the TCIT route, for example, of the port of Batumi, are already allowing to increase the volume of transshipment. And significantly optimize the supply chain of goods both from Kazakhstan to the European direction, and back," - clarified the General Director of QazTrade.
The speaker stressed that activation of transport communication in the Caspian direction will be promoted by attracting global players - global transport companies, integrating the electronic system of customs administration along the whole route, joining efforts for backloading from Europe as well as providing access to the infrastructure of the Black Sea ports.
Given the difficulties with traditional logistic corridors, the trans-Caspian route is the shortest and most economically profitable way both for exporting our goods to European countries and for importing goods relevant to our manufacturers to Kazakhstan.
