Kazakhstan to increase grain and flour supplies to Afghanistan

During the meeting of Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin with his counterpart from Afghanistan Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Kazakh side proposed to consider the capacity of Beineu terminal to increase the supply of Kazakh grain and flour to Afghanistan, World of NAN reports citing the Government.

"Today Kazakhstan is among the ten main trade partners of Afghanistan. Your country traditionally imports Kazakh grain and flour. I can assure you that Kazakhstan will remain a reliable supplier of these goods to the Afghan market," Serik Zhumangarin said.

The Beineu terminal is located in the Mangistau region and has direct access to the Kazakh-Turkmen border. The terminal has all necessary production infrastructure. It is able to perform the functions of a land transshipment terminal-storage terminal for further transportation of products for export. The capacity of the terminal allows to ship up to 100 thousand tons of grain, 12 thousand tons of flour and up to 3 thousand tons of mixed fodder per month.

Also from the Kazakh side there was a proposal to build trans-Afghan railroads, which will allow to carry cargo from China through Kazakhstan not only to the west, but also through Afghanistan in the direction of Pakistan and India.
